Medical doctor, psychiatrist and author, Richard D. Gillett, M.A., M.B., B.Ch., M.R.C.Psych., trained in science and medicine at Cambridge University, England, and is a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Questioning the lengthiness of many standard psychotherapies, Dr. Gillett set out to find briefer and more effective methods of creating mental and emotional change.  His search took him all over the world — he has lived on four different continents — enabling him to find solutions to common human predicaments from the perspective of different cultures and psychologies.

Dr. Gillett has studied and practiced over 30 different kinds of psychotherapy, searching out the methods that are both fast and effective, and determining which methods work best for which conditions of mind.  Some of these methods are rare, including wonderfully effective techniques some 2000 years old, unearthed from Dr. Gillett’s study of ancient Greek and Indian psychologies.

Dr. Gillett has tried every one of these techniques on himself first, using the most effective of them to help clients, and then further honing them based on the results and feedback from clients.  His research and practice have led him to an uncommon conclusion:  that many of the most effective and fastest therapies involve recognizing and practicing the abundant qualities we already have.

In 1991, Dr. Gillett moved from Europe to the United States, and was granted residency under the category of EB-1 “professional of extraordinary ability,” before naturalizing as a United States Citizen.  During the last 35 years, Dr. Gillett has lead hundreds of workshops and trainings for teachers and organizations in the USA, Mexico, Canada, Europe, and India.  He created, directed, and taught at seven annual conferences for psychotherapists attended by over 300 professionals each year. He has been interviewed over 30 times on radio and TV, including on Good Day New York.  He was also featured in full length articles in magazines:  Cosmopolitan, Men’s Fitness and Woman’s World.  Dr. Gillett is the author of professional articles and three books: Overcoming Depression (Penguin); Change Your Mind, Change Your World (Simon and Schuster); and It’s a Freakin’ Mess: How to Thrive in Divisive Times — his latest #1 bestseller.
